Trident is a leader among box printing companies as a designer, manufacturer and marketer of piezoelectric impulse ink jet printheads, equipment, inks and other consumables for industrial printers. Trident products are used in a variety of printing applications that require high-quality, high-speed, rugged printers and equipment coupled together with the ability to change the text, graphics or bar code information easily and frequently.
Primary markets for our printing products are:
A typical orifice plate in comparison to a penny is pictured to the right. Orifices that look like dashes on the plate are actually made up of eight holes per dash. Trident's large format inkjet printers are marketed worldwide through original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) which integrate them into computer-controlled, application-specific products or printing systems which are then sold to end users.
Trident's inkjet printer printheads are based on a proprietary piezoelectric impulse ink jet technology that is durable, versatile and delivers the price and performance characteristics required by industrial markets.
This patented technology forms a high definition image with micro-droplets of ink that travel across a small gap through the air to the printing surface. The micro-droplets of ink are ejected from orifices smaller than a human hair, at frequencies of up to 15,000 drops per second from each orifice.
Trident's proprietary impulse inkjet printing technology employs a piezoelectric crystal that changes shape when an electric field is applied across it. The patented technology utilizes the piezoelectric crystal as a piston opposite the orifice through which the ink is projected onto the print surface. The process of a printer marking each droplet takes approximately 0.0001 seconds. By generating the micro-droplets at high frequencies and velocities, the distance that they can travel increases, which makes the gap between the printhead and the print surface larger.
The high print pressures generated also enable more than one orifice to be placed in each channel, which increases the marking area without added cost and complexity. This arrangement of the piezoelectric crystal and ink channels, along with the use of multiple orifices per channel, are proprietary to Trident.
To be the world leader in the industrial inkjet market by providing reliable, innovative, differentiated printheads, printer inks, and modules, which are grounded in a thorough understanding of end user's needs.
