Product or Unit Coding

Product or Unit Coding involves printing of day/date or lot code on the product or the packaging at the unit level.

Trident Powered systems reliably and cost-effectively code a wide range of substrates including metals, plastic, glass, lumber, ceramic tiles, cables and other non-porous substrates.  The wide range of inks allows Trident-powered systems to be used to mark many types of products and/or the unit packaging of the products.

Fast Drying without Clogging:
A common challenge for inkjet printheads is jetting fluids that will dry quickly on the substrate, but without drying (and clogging) the orifice of the printhead.

Solid Ink:
There are a number of ways around this dilemma... including the use of phase-change, solid inks like Trident's SolidMark ink, where the ink "drys" by cooling from a hot liquid (melted wax) to a "solid" (room temperature wax).

Liquid Ink:
For fast drying applications, liquid ink presents more of a challenge.  Other technologies use a continuous recycling and recirculation method to prevent clogging in the orifices.  This system can be come very costly and requires maintenance on a regular basis.  Still other industrial inkjet technologies use "spitting" or jetting of un-needed drops into the air to assure the orifice never dries.  It is easy to spot this type of equipment because even though the drops are small, they add up and end up coating the conveyor and the surrounding area with ink.

Trident printheads, on the other hand, employ unique, patented Subpulsing and Chemical Capping technology. Gone is the need for elaborate recirculating ink systems or wasteful ink spitting

Repairability:
On top of the ink technology, Trident printheads are repairable which minimizes running costs.

Current alternatives to piezoelectric ink jet technology are either too expensive or require excessive maintenance and upkeep due to elaborate printhead designs. These alternatives also involve the high cost of labels, ink and non-repairable printheads. Many of the inks are also hazardous or limit flexibility by enabling printing of fixed images only.
